The birds we keep and Exhibit now and recognise as Chocolates are the birds
that arrived in the UK from Continental Europe (the Netherlands and Belgium)
in the 1990's
Developed for Exhibition they were called Zwart Bruin which translates to
Black Brown and were the result of hybridisation with in the main the Black
Headed Munia, our original Self Chocolates which were very similar in colour
to their original Sharp Tailed Munia ancestors have disappeared from most
Exhibitors birdrooms now.
As far as I am aware our Chocolate and White Variegated birds are still the
same stock we have always Exhibited in the UK
There is no difference in the genetic inheritance of Chocolates be they
Black Browns or the original Chocolates also Variegated birds follow the
same inheritance
